Covenant Ministry Associates is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing a message of hope and encouragement to those in need. Through their partnership with organizations, institutions and individuals, Covenant Ministry Associates provides underprivileged areas of the world with humanitarian aid, along with the inspired message found in the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Covenant Ministry Associates is funded almost entirely from the generous donations of caring people like you. Most recently a number of donations have also been made to support The Zambian Vocal Collection, a talented vocal group spreading the word of God through acappella song. Covenant Ministry Associates is proud to sponsor the 12 young men that make up the Zambian Vocal Collection, as they tour the United States singing and ministering at schools, churches and social gatherings.
The Zambian Vocal Collection began from the encouragement of a loving teacher in a Sunday school class in the small community of Kalingalinga, located just east of Lusaka, Zambia in 1993. One Sunday morning seven of the elementary boys in the Sunday school class sang for their class. Their teacher, amazed at their talent noted "I didn't know you guys could sing this good." She then added "You have really blessed us." From that point on, the boys were encouraged to continue singing and were appointed to be the official church choir by their Baptist Pastor.
In the months that followed, the boys organized themselves and taught each other a repertoire of songs in their tribal languages to present in the main church service each and every Sunday. Despite their enthusiasm for music, many didn't take them seriously at first.
Still, full of energy, interest and zeal, the boys tirelessly continued practicing every evening. As time passed and admiration for the group grew, others started joining the group, bringing the number of members to the maximum of forty-six. With time, some dropped out leaving the group with twenty-six members who where later given the name: ZABC (Zambian Acappella Boys Choir)
In August of 1996, the ZABC had an outstanding opportunity to tour in the United States of America showcasing their vocal talents all across the country. The tour lasted 2 years and they returned to Zambia in 1998. By then, they were no longer the only group called the ZABC (Zambian Acappella Boys Choir), so they decided to change their name to the Zambian Vocal Collection to preserve their recognition within the country.
Since becoming the Zambian Vocal Collection (ZVC), these vocal talents have brought new life to the word acappella, singing traditional hymns, original verse and inspirational songs throughout their community and around the world. Their music touches people in all walks of life from the dedicated music connoisseur to the child whose ears are tickled with the sweet sounds of their vocal nuances.
The members of the acclaimed ZVC love to travel while spreading the wonderful words of life and cheer with their spiritual message. Their music style is best described as a combination of traditional hymns, vocal percussion, synchronized choreography and complex vocal harmonies, all of which are focused on a worshipful foundation that uplifts and proclaims the name of Jesus Christ. From the moment they begin to sing one cannot help but believe that the notes themselves are the product of God-honoring, Spirit-filled lives.
In October of 2003, the ZVC had another opportunity to tour the United States for another two years and, was this time sponsored by Covenant Ministry Associates and the Zambian Vocal Ministry.
Now, working closely with Covenant Ministry Associates, the ZVC has put together their first album entitled "There is a Way" that includes a compilation of their inspiring music for all to enjoy.
The future is a promising one for the ZVC, who plans to tour the United States yet again in an effort to raise money for various humanitarian projects in their native Zambia as well as promote their new CD.
